I really enjoy Lord John's adventures and consider him to be a main-worthy character! I like his friendly, generous personality, his humor and his ability to adapt to an ongoing situation. The sex? Not my style, but fairly well written and always adds small parts to his personality--from his choice of partners (he's neither desperate nor profligate) to the way he moves in society in general, including flirting with the ladies at various venues. So I don't mind the sex scenes, because they aren't graphic, and I feel they do add to the story, just as the sex scenes between Jamie and Claire add to the story. Meanwhile, back to the book in question here: Brotherhood of the Blade.Brotherhood of the Blade is the sequel to Lord John and the Private Matter. Both books fit easily into the Outlander series, but you really don't need to read them to finish the series. In fact, you don't need to read all of them, or even in the right sequence to enjoy them. Each book and story can stand on its own, and is enjoyable on its own. This book concerns the brothers Grey attempts to find out the real story of how their father died, who killed him and why. It falls on the eve of the Prussian war which adds an increased aura of danger and mystery. I won't give away any more, but believe me, there is so much more to this book than sex scenes of any kind that if you don't read it because of those scenes, you deserve to miss the fun in this one!

It’s a good book. Like most Lord John Stories it is somewhat of a mystery. In other reviews I also mention how Lord John reminds me a bit of Tris of Veronica Roth's InsurgentJohn has always known (view spoiler at Goodreads), a family secret, but has been ever silent about it. It has always been disgraceful to the family (view spoiler at Goodreads). Because there were rumors relating to (view spoiler at Goodreads) Jacobite sympathies, this leaves some considerable stain upon John’s family name. His brother Hal, so embarrassed by this family disgrace he refuses all family titles he rightly deserves, by birth. Alternately, John, Hal’s younger brother, retains his title of “Lord”.It all eventually becomes clear in this mystery story.John being gay does add some suspense when his desires so frequently place him in a position to be discovered. A discovery would make his current family’s rumor tainted disgrace a full fledged disaster.Diana is an A Class writer, the thread in this story that carried my interest was in John’s search to discover a way to removed the stain of his family’s rumored Jacobite sympathies. Unfortunately, it seems that this primary plot thread is largely a mystery as well.Shop from https://smile.amazon.com and your purchases count towards your favorite charity. All My Goodread's Reviews:[...]

FINAL DECISION: A winding walk through 18th Century England with Lord John Grey who is investigating the truth of his father's allegiances, preparing his troops for war, and trying to live his life as a gay man where dangers threaten at every turn. The character of John is so vivid here, that I enjoyed this journey.THE STORY: In the mid 1700s, Lord John and his brother are both soldiers in the Seven Years' War. As their mother prepares to marry again, secrets from their father's death and questions of whether he was a Jacobite traitor arise again. Lord John looks into the matter and someone seems to be taunting the family and threatening Lord John int he process. At the same time, Lord John's new stepbrother is attracting Lord John's attention.OPINION: This book rests almost entirely on the character of Lord John. I enjoy reading of his life and how he deals with the complications of his family, his sexuality and just how he fits into the historical events of his time. He is a complex character. He has an unrequited love for Jamie Fraser, but he continues to live his life. This book is driven by the mystery surrounding Lord John's father's death and whether he was a Jacobite sympathizer. However, while that is the framing of the story, this book is also about relationship and family and the dangers and events that Lord John experiences in his historical time period.I enjoyed this book quite a bit and am more and more impressed with the historical depth of Gabaldon's books.WORTH MENTIONING: Jamie makes a couple small appearances here in a book that happens during the events of VOYAGER.CONNECTED BOOKS:Â LORD JOHN AND THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE BLADE is the second book in the Lord John Grey series which is a spinoff of her Outlander series. I don't know if people read these books apart from the Outlander books, but I think that this book assumes a reader already knows who these characters are so I would only recommend this series if a reader is familiar with the Outlander booksSTAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

Meh...I read the first Lord John book quickly, but this book took me forever to get through. Having read all of the Outlander books and patiently waiting book 9, I thought I would read all of the Lord John books to gain some insight into the LJG/Jamie relationship. To be honest, I've never understood their "friendship" and I felt like I was missing something that happened in Voyager that made them friends. The "mystery" of this novel felt secondary to LJG's relationship with Percy and its aftermath, the preparations for the 7 Years War, and the moral dilemma that LJG constantly finds himself. I didn't mind these passages, but they seemed to drag and the plot was often times meandering. All in all, the book was just okay for me.

This book challenged me a great deal. I have found learning to think biblically is a challenge given the swirling winds of thought in the world. I learned to ask some questions that I would not have asked before. I plan to read this again in the near future to help me better understand all that the book presented. There were a lot of questions in the book to help the reader apply the ideas that were presented.

This was a hard read but a good one. I wanted to develop my opinion on death and dying so I wasn’t just spouting from what I’d seen on Facebook. Who better to teach me than someone who’s been a quadriplegic for more than 50 years? I feel more equipped to face the death of a loved one or my own suffering and I bought a copy for my friend who is a nurse.

I love the books she writes. We need to make a difficult decision about having a DNR or not for our severely disabled child. I wanted some faithful, Christian guidance to go along with discussions we’ll be having with our Catholic clergy. The book purchased on Amazon was the least expensive way of ordering it. Not to mention the convenience of avoiding a bookstore and getting something more!

Joni gives a perspective that only she can after 50+years of being disabled. I found a lot of wisdom in these pages, both for me as a health care provider and as a Christian. This book is timely and thought provoking.

A refreshing look at a controversial subject from someone who knows firsthand. It seems we are being bulldozed into the direction of assisted suicide and Joni makes us step back and look at the implications.

As Joni always is ....this is a very thoughtful and respectful perspective.

I have always thought that I would never want to be a burden to my family so I have thought I would never want life support to keep me alive. But Joni points out the value of suffering both for the sufferer and for those who watch them suffer while still living for God's glory in whatever way they can. Our suffering with a godly attitude can be a blessing to us and to others.

Joni Eareckson Tada brings her great wisdom to this most sensitive issue. As always, she shed great light on this. Great read! I highly recommend it!

First off, in case this is a big deal to you, this is 152 pages long, not 208.There is lots of information about various dragons (not just the ones listed in the Table of Contents), along with the usual JackPoint commentary. There is a nice fiction work that shows a Dragon meeting called by Lofwyr. I really enjoyed that piece, far more so than the usual fiction.I'm not an expert on Shadowrun by any means, so there are a number of Dragons I had never heard of in this work. There were a few proofreading errors that I found distracting. It's not an adventure book, but sure seems that a good GM could mine this for a number of ideas.

If you like Shadowrun this is a must source book for any campaign involving dragons in the plot. Also a great reading.

a definate must have for SR GMs. Has plenty of timeline and source material to support the world setting and dragon info.

Though my family includes more than two people, this cookbook still caught my eye and was interesting. I am always looking for new recipes to try for my family. However, I was not very satisfied with the layout of this cookbook. For me, part of a great cookbook includes a visual idea of the end result. This book was lacking that major. I would say if you are a family of two and looking to eat healthy, it's a good start, but you might be more motivated by other options that are visually appealing as well. I did receive this book for free.

I got this cookbook because my boyfriend and I are trying to eat healthier and are running out of ideas.. baked chicken with veggies get old obviously haha! But, one thing I do not like is there are no pictures at all for any of the recipes. I like to be able to get an idea of what I am actually making.. so that's a bummer. Another thing, I know I am not a health guru like some are but I try and this book was kind of hard to follow. I hadn't heard of a lot of the ingredients so I had to google what they were to even understand what I was going to be trying to make. I do not live off fast food and I love cooking a lot so this was kind of a bummer! I don't know, maybe I need to order "How to eat healthy for idiots" instead! If you don't need pictures and you can decipher plants from sea food then maybe this is the cook book for you!

I love this cookbook. It is just my husband and me now as the kids are grown and out of the house. We have tried several recipes in this book and all have been delicious. Plus very little, if any, leftovers. I used to make such large quantities and then we would "eat on it" for days, and I would usually end up throwing it out. These recipes are easy, economical and delicious. Thank you for a cookbook like this.

So far I've loved almost everything I've cooked. I love how organized this book is and how helpful with suggested foods to pair it is. I also love that even though it's "for 2" it makes larger portions so since we eat a lot, that's nice. Or if we eat light it's nice for lunch the next day!My only complaints: the prep time and cook times are way off. Sometimes it takes me 2 hours to prep and cook a meal when the prep and cook times say 30minutes. Unless you do all your chopping/grating etc ahead of time, prepare for longer cooking periods. This one may be kind of small but for some reason it really bothers me...In one recipe, Beef and Cabbage Stir-Fry, the ingredients tell you 1/4 sweet onion, cut into 1/4 inch thick slices but the instructions never mention what to do with the onion. I'm a strict follow the instructions type so of course, I didn't think to add the onion initially. I had to add it later and that bothers me...Anyways, it's definitely worth the buy. The food is almost always delicious!

Ehh.. There weren’t many recipes that I LOVED, but there were some good weeknight ones. I bought this book as a way to get my fiancé more involved in the kitchen and he noted that the recipes were easy to follow, so that’s a plus! There aren’t many pictures in the book, which makes it hard to know what everything should look like. The only pictures in there are the ones at beginning of each chapter, but with no notes on what each is. That was a negative for me.With that said, food is such a personal thing and you may really enjoy the recipes. It’s a well written cookbook, so it’s worth a try for the price.UPDATE: Bumping my rating down to 3 stars. I’ve disliked the majority of the recipes that I’ve tried. First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers (P.S.), by Loung Ung

From the Back Cover

One of seven children of a high-ranking government official, Loung Ung lived a privileged life in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh until the age of five. Then, in April 1975, Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge army stormed into the city, forcing Ung's family to flee and, eventually, to disperse. Loung was trained as a child soldier in a work camp for orphans, her siblings were sent to labor camps, and those who survived the horrors would not be reunited until the Khmer Rouge was destroyed.Harrowing yet hopeful, Loung's powerful story is an unforgettable account of a family shaken and shattered, yet miraculously sustained by courage and love in the face of unspeakable brutality.

Considering the fact that Loung Ung wrote this book from her perspective as a child during the Cambodian civil war, I was able to easily breeze through the book.Although this book may give the impression of a very limited insight the Cambodian genocide as it was written in a child’s perspective, this book definitely did not live up to that impression. It was able to make me question, think critically and feel several different emotions within just a couple hundred pages.I loved and still love this book so much that I recommended it to practically everyone I know. It supports my stance on war and is one of the most insightful books I’ve read up to date. Loved it and would most likely read it again.

I read the Kindle version of this book, which contained distracting typos. I do not know whether these exist in all versions of the book. There were a couple of times in the book after a person disappeared that Loung wrote what she imagined happened to them. It was hard for me to believe that a six-year-old would imagine the things she described, so those passages felt less genuine to me and felt more like she read about details of the Khmer Rouge’s practices as an adult and wove them into the story for dramatic effect.Typos and writing devices aside, this was obviously bound to be a terribly sad story. It is difficult to read about the atrocities of genocide, especially having seen in person the towers of human skulls left behind from the massive killings.

In 2000, Loung Ung published her childhood memoir which quickly became a national bestseller. Loung Ung’s memoir opens to the picture of a happy childhood in Phnom Penh. However the family’s happy existence abruptly changes with the invasion of the Khmer Rouge. The author describes the tragedy that befell her family and her fellow Cambodians during the nightmarish rule under Pol Pot’s reign of terror in the 1970’s. Ms. Ung relates their struggle to survive and the decisions they made which dictated their future. The author covers the invasion of the Vietnamese army who defeat the Khmer Rouge and of her reunification with her siblings. Loung Ung’s memoir, though she lived through horrific experiences, speaks to endurance, and to the love of family. Recommended.

It has been more than 40 years since the black-uniformed columns of the Khmer Rouge rolled into Phnom Penh and changed the life of a 5-year old girl named Loung Ung forever. With the benefit of distance, it may be all too easy to dismiss the horrors of that era to a distant corner of memory, or to brush it off as a bizarre aberration of history. That would be a mistake. Communism as an ideology may be bankrupt, but the specter of Utopian extremism lives on. Many young men and women who flock to ISIS today are fired by the same misguided zealotry, the same disdain for common human decency in the name of a supposedly better world, that brought young men and women into the folds of the Khmer Rouge 40, 50, and 60 years ago. In fact, the parallels are chilling - like many leading figures of ISIS, Al Qaeda, and the Taliban today, the leaders of the Khmer Rouge were by and large teachers. They wrote beautifully, if somewhat naively, of a return to innocent rural simplicity. They impressed their students with their erudition, simplicity of living, and apparent dedication. How can such earnest people do any wrong? Many will find out at the cost of their lives.Loung Ung's autobiography is a moving memorial to all the lives lost in that deranged quest for Utopia. In the eyes of the Angkar (the Khmer Rouge "organization"), liquidating the members of the old regime is but a necessary prelude to building a society of true believers. And if the Angkar believes that each hectare can yield 3 tons of rice (even though the best yield before the war was only 1 ton/hectare), then it must be achievable if everybody just works hard enough. The starry-eyed school-teachers of yesteryear who dreamed of an agrarian paradise had become totally out of touch. And with the absolute power they wielded, nobody was about to tell them otherwise. The result was mass famine as local cadres starved the people to turn in their production quota. As millions perished, the top leadership witch-hunted for "saboteurs" and berated their subjects for lack of revolutionary fervor.Ung's book is full of vivid descriptions and keen observations that bring the vicissitudes of that era poignantly to life. Many passages are naturally cinematic. These include:- Her idyllic family life in pre-KR Phnom Penh. The author was young, but her memory is sharp. Her colourful description of early 1970's Phnom Penh with its many exotic (to an American audience) sights, sounds, and colors is an adventure in itself;- The arrival of the KR in Phnom Penh. A moment of high historical drama, but perhaps the author was too young to remember the details. This is where Chanrithy Him's dramatic account offers some truly memorable moments;- Getting through the KR check points on the way out of Phnom Penh, as KR soldiers systematically rounded up all former members of the old regime. Most would be executed within days;- A widow who took refuge with the author's family, tenderly talking to the baby that she carried with her everywhere, refusing to accept that he was already dead; (p.86)- The ritual brainwashing of children at a child labor camp, with the clapping, the chanting of "Angkar!", the endless repetition of propaganda;- Loung's savage attack against one of her tormentors, a bully in the children's labour camp who despised her because of her light skin. Even as a 7-year old she dreamed of the day when she'd have the power to come back to look for the bullies and "beat them until she was tired". She vowed never to forget. Her sweet-natured sister couldn't understand why she wanted to retain such horrible memories. But as Loung explained, she needed the anger, the thoughts of retribution, to fill the bottomless sadness in her soul.I've always said that anger, or at least righteous indignation, is a much under-rated emotion. It needs to be controlled. It needs to be properly-channeled. But it's the juice that drives much social progress. Finally, a few observations about the author's family background. A few readers took offense at the author's perceived lack of sensitivity. Perhaps she took too much pride in her family's light skin, high status, and economic prosperity. Reading her account of her family's encounter with the villagers in the KR base areas, it's quite evident there was much class resentment and perhaps plain-old jealousy on the part of the country folk. Even to this day many villagers in the old KR base areas seem to recall that era wistfully - Pol Pot's cremation site seems to have become something of a shrine. No doubt the villagers didn't enjoy the regimentation, but it was a topsy-turvy time when poor people like themselves could feel superior to the city folk who probably looked down on them. Not that the Khmer Rouge cadres themselves were particularly holy, of course. Plenty were mere opportunists. The Khmer Rouge village chief who lorded over the "new people" ate better, dressed better, and was apparently not above trading extra food for gold at exorbitant prices. (Ironically his corruption probably saved some lives, because life definitely got a lot harder after Angkar tightened things up and sent more soldiers into the villages.) As for Pol Pot, the young Loung Ung knew almost nothing about him, except that he was "fat" in a country of living skeletons.A postscript: Those readers who are interested in how Loung and her siblings fared after the war may be interested in reading her second book, Lucky Child. While some readers may find the events in her later life less dramatic, I found it equally fascinating to read about her endeavors to come to terms with her past while trying to make a new life for herself in America. Like many children from similar backgrounds, she went through a phase when she attempted to cut all ties with her past (to the point of deliberately avoiding contact with her siblings) and plunged headlong into mainstream American youth culture. As she got older, she discovered that she could only conquer the ghosts of her past by embracing her roots, and to rise above her personal losses (and petty personal vengeance) by making them her life-long cause. While my own life experiences were nowhere nearly as dramatic as Luong's, there are enough similarities that what she wrote rang true to me and resonated. Well worth a read.

My parents never talked about their experiences of the war and killing fields. As I got older, I only got bits and pieces. Ung's memoir helped me fill in the gaps that are too difficult for my parents to speak of. I highly recommend this book. It's also an easy read. Ung vividly describes her experience. She also accurately describes the Khmer and Chinese culture, which sets the tone for the book. This information is essential for understanding what happened.

I happened to be touring the "Re-Education" School in Phnom Penh and the Killing Fields outside the city while reading this book. I can't say that I have ever felt I was living history by doing so. It was a profound experience. The book, so beautifully written in first person, tells a harrowing story of a small girl whose bravery surpasses anyone I have known or read about. Her writing deftly handles facing death, torture, starvation and endless cruelty aside times of overwhelming joy and compassion and the struggle to understand the dichotomy. Thank-you Ms. Ung, for sharing your story which will always be tattooed to my heart.

So this is a first: I do not remember requesting an ARC of this book. I suspect the wishbone button is at play here but, since NetGalley doesn’t have a way of tracking wishes, who knows? It was a stressful summer and fall, and I may have done all sorts of crazy things on the internet that I don’t remember.Which is my roundabout way of saying that, despite the abundance of katanas and severed heads, SAMURAI RISING isn’t the sort of book I normally gravitate to. I don’t read a ton of middle grade, and military history mostly bores me to tears. (I’d call SAMURAI RISING equal parts biography and military history/strategy. But since Yoshitsune is mostly known for his inspired military leadership, that tips the scales more heavily toward the latter.) Though I did skim some of the more strategy-heavy battle scenes (the lack of maps in the ARC made them even more difficult for me to envision), overall I was pleasantly surprised: SAMURAI RISING is a rather engaging read.Rife with political intrigue, shifting loyalties, and back-stabbing, SAMURAI RISING often reads like a centuries-old soap opera. Danger comes not just from rival samurai bloodlines (such as the warring Minamoto and Taira clans that take center stage here), but from within one’s own family as well: nephews are hired to assassinate their uncles, brothers betray brothers, and parents may murder their own children to (re)claim power. Ironically, among Yoshitsune’s small band of closest friends, there was not a single Minamoto to be found; and, despite all he did to help his half-brother Yoritomo ascend to power, Yoshitsune was cast aside – similar to how the Emperor treated their father decades before.Yoshitsune’s is the ultimate underdog story. After his father’s defeat, then-baby Yoshitsune’s life was spared, but on the condition that he be raised as a monk, far away from the politics of Kyoto. Consequently, he didn’t begin his samurai training until he was fifteen, when he fled his impending religious vows and the life of tedium and anonymity they promised. By comparison, most samurai were finishing up a decade’s worth of training at this age and would be considered war-ready, or nearly so. Likewise, as a member of the opposition force, Yoshitsune often fought with smaller armies and in disadvantageous conditions – such as the famed cliffside attack on the Taira fortress at Ichi-no-Tani. Yet he always managed to rally his men to victory.(Until he didn’t. If you’re already familiar with Japanese history, you probably know how Yoshitsune’s story ends. I’m not, and it came as a huge surprise. Nearly 40% of this book is comprised of back matter, a fact not immediately obvious in the ARC owing to the lack of a TOC. Thus I didn’t realize I’d reached the end until the last page. To say that I didn’t see it coming is an understatement.)Even so, it’s disconcerting to see Yoshitsune positioned as the unequivocal hero. In their quest for power and riches, the samurai and monarchy consistently trample on those belonging to lower social classes. As they rampaged across the countryside, samurai ransacked homes, stole food and livestock to feed their armies, and kidnapped peasants to serve them – all while demanding taxes to fund a lifestyle at turns lavish and bloodthirsty. Turner reports that Yoshitsune was a little more humane than most, yet this didn’t stop him from setting fire to trees, fields – and even the homes of commoners – in order to light a midnight attack on the Taira:“For a warrior Yoshitsune was unusually civilized in his dealings with common people. He made sure that his warriors behaved well in Kyoto – no thievery or bullying happened on his watch. Yet he remained a samurai. Samurai didn’t see themselves as protectors of the common people; a peasant had no more “rights” than an ox. So the fires were lit.”Meticulously researched, Turner bases much of her narrative on two sources: THE TALE OF THE HEIKE, as translated by Helen McCullough and Royall Tyler, and the AZUMA KAGAMI (MIRROR OF EASTERN JAPAN). Yoshitsune “is clearly one of the HEIKIE’S heroes,” which could also explain the bias. That, and no one wants to root for Goliath.Given the age and general sketchiness of the original texts, it’s no surprise that Turner’s retelling sometimes lacks depth and emotion; centuries dead and buried, their voices gone with them, Turner is often left to speculate about her subjects’ motivations, feelings, and innermost desires. What we’re left with is the who, what, when, and where, but the whys are a little harder to come by.In this vein, women are predictably absent from the story – save for Yoshitsune’s lover Shizuka, who’s an all-around bad-ass. (Turner describes her as the bravest character in the whole darn book, and I’d be hard-pressed to disagree.) In her copious Author’s Notes, Turner includes a section on the status of women, which I appreciate; but I would’ve liked to have learned even more about Yoritomo’s widow, Hōjō Masako, who had her own son Yoriie strangled in order to prevent him allying with political factions she opposed. As Turner so wryly points out:“Minamoto rule of Japan ended on this fratricidal note. In Yoritomo had left a strong and loyal brother alive to protect his heirs, would history have turned out differently? [...]“The Hōjō family was – wait for it! – a minor branch of the Taira.”Still, SAMURAI RISING is an excellent choice for kids who aren’t too keen on history – but might be swayed with a little action and bloodshed.** Full disclosure: I received a free electronic ARC for review through NetGalley. **

You can tell by how big the glossary, foreword, and author's notes are that the facts about Yoshitsune's life was well researched and yet this is a very harsh read. The author's can't quite come to terms to how to write about the Samurai's life, it's a bit biographical, there is some novelization but it's not quite either. This reads like a dinner conversation about Yoshitsune's life, the prose is very basic and sentences are often written as how a person might speak, I recall one sentence even has a "-wait for it!-" in the middle of a statement. It feels contrived and dumbed down, instead of writing "we can imagine during this time that the samurai might have..." just go ahead and write a historical novel, lots of authors manage to make great novels out of historical facts and a bit of imagination. This book however falls short of writing an objective biography or a great historical novel. I felt like I was being lectured about Yoshitsune's life by a kindergarten teacher.

Highly suggest this for a light quick action packed read. Well written, author has a light sense of humor that keeps the story from getting too heavy

Normally reading books is a chore for me. But this book was different, I couldn't put this book down. I highly recommend it if you are a fan of Japanese history and reading about the Samurai.

I am not at all into murder and mayhem, but I loved the book and could not put it down. I should confess that I purchased the book because the artist is a friend and also because another friend is writing a book connected to 19th century Samurai. I was thoroughly delighted with this book and have shared scans of the cover with several other friends.

Little boy I purchased this for (my nephew) love it! He said it was the best Christmas gift ever.

I just wish it was 300 pages longer. appreciated the endnotes. gotta love good endnotes.

Grandson loves book....

This is a great adaptation of the "Heike" for young readers. I highly recommend it!

I want to like this book. However, it reads like a high school paper trying to make a word count requirement. Every chapter is bloated. Almost all of the ideas are copied from better sources. Could easily be 80% shorter. Not sure I learned anything.

All this book does is that it tries to lure to sign up for their courses on product school. They are just promoting their school without getting into the specifics of how to become a good product manager. It seems that they have just copy-pasted ideas from other books on product design, marketing etc. It is too much fluffy. The entire book could be written in 5 pages. For instance, they talk about creating hypothesis for opportunity at a company, and then validating the hypothesis. Instead of this, it would have been better if the authors would have focused on resources to transition from non-PM to PM.I am a PM at a tech firm, and hated this book. I don't write reviews unless the book is really bad.

Great intro book to teach you everything about PM. Covers many of the popular subjects, terminology, and strategies used in the field

This is a great book to get a good understanding of product management, it is slight biased however I did like the examples they provided they were current and very relatable.

This is a great book that covers all the basics that a product manager goes through with excellent recommendations. If you’re new to PM o ever even think of becoming one, this book will be your test. After reading this you’ll know if product management is for you.

Must read for team/tech leads or senior software developers.

Is a good book for those who know nothing about product management, I just did not like that the book just focus on softwares, apps, and hardware link to technology, It would be great to have a retail product manager book, maybe in a near future we can get this from the authors, I would love to hear their perspective on this sector of product management.

This book is a very good fieldbook, especially for newbie product managers into the modern product management. The book takes the reader through its logical progression, and builds upon ideas to help the reader understand what are the key activities at each step of the journey. I would highly recommend for anyone looking to make a career as a product manager, and in general anyone involved in product development in any role.
