I'll start off by stating, I've been playing guitar a bit over eight years. I received this book with little to no expectations, to be honest. It was intended to be a quick reference for scales during my personal practices, however, after reading through a couple sections, this book has proven to be much, MUCH, more than that. Bear in mind, this is coming from a metal/shred guitarist and composer. Anything you could ever want and/or need to know about guitar, is concisely and completely written within this awesome resource. To further sweeten the deal, the author, Damon (fellow virtuoso guitarist and shredder), has released a TON of great instructional videos to further refine the concepts and techniques shared within this book. If you are a beginner in need of the best training I've found thus far, look no further.What makes this book an excellent resource is just how thorough it really is. Any scale or arpeggio you truly could ever need to play great music is here, finally. The format of the book is designed in such a way that as you progress through the lessons, the difficulty increases; Thus, your SKILL increases, regardless of your level of experience. Knowledge is key here, and the more you know, the more you can actually grow, and this here is a book of knowledge. This is a resource that every guitarist should have in his/her possession, and I couldn't be happier to have it in mine.So what're you waiting for? If you want the best instruction, you've found it.
If you are just learning the guitar, or have taken lessons reading tab, but would like to be more knowledgable on learning the basics of playing then this book is for you. I found that a lot of the books would assume that you know the notes on the strings, the scales, and finger positions when shaping a chord. This book not only specifically shows you but refers you to a site to actually see and hear the notes, hear what the scales should sound like, and see proper finger positions on a chord. I am very impressed with the book and to be able to interact with the videos. This is a great learning tool for beginners as well as someone who wants a brush up course to improve their guitar knowledge. You will learn the scales in detail, and even be able to play along on jam tracks. This is by far the best instructional book on guitar out there.
You have to flip through whole book to find what you looking for. Otherwise it is a good book for reference.Updating my review:All link in this book is not working - it direct to not related web page. Also using iPad, you can't close this book. There's no way to bring out the Kindle home also no way to book mark. I also bought a printed book. The contents in ebook and printed book is different. ebook has additions but it is missing from printed book.
After purchasing this book and quickly skimming through it I was amazed by the amount of information contained in 285 pages. I would consider myself to be an intermediate guitar player so I was a bit surprised to quickly learn techniques I didn't know previously. I realized that there is so much more for me to learn. I have had some problems at times with hand positioning which this book quickly corrected.I have already found myself using higher frets which I previously was too nervous to use. I own a few other guitar books but at my stage of guitar playing I find this one to be the most useful. Everything is laid out well and easy to understand. I felt stuck as a guitar player and this book has me very excited. I would highly recommend this book to guitar players of any level and to students of music theory. This book has caused me to feel more confident as a guitar player and for that I am very thankful.

"The Ultimate Guitar Chords, Scales & Arpeggios Handbook" is a very good book. I love it but like all music books it does have its Pros and Cons.The Pros:It breaks down every scale to a point by giving the user reference points (example: It gives you a chart of scales starting on "X" fret and so on...)It breaks down every chord and Arpeggios by breaking it down by show the "popular" chords used in most songs while also showing other chords to give the guitarist options.The Layout is as basic as you are going to get.The Cons:Its missing hyperlinks (if its possible to place them in a ebook) to the videos on Youtube.Because of the play-along tracks, it can leave the risk of having missing files because of the random chance the video is either removed or flagged.For most beginners, it kinda lacks the focus of finger positions (Example: Hand position, finger angle, and how to practice*)*to be fair, its mentioned in the first lesson video.Besides that, I say its a good book to use if you are on the go.If you are a High School Musician or Teacher, you should definitely check this book out.
Title says it all.Don't expect an entire chapter devoted to theory, it's mostly illustrations and one line instructions telling you how to play the scales and chords.Simply and easy enough. Good book for practicing and familiarization with scales although I wouldn't really just use this one book if you're learning to play or want to get better at playing the guitar. This book plus a combination of other books and Youtube should be enough to teach even the least dextrous of us.
