no much to my liking pictures are not much fun to color and very small
This is a really cute coloring book which is filled with 32 pages of designs of a various places in a little town. It has many designs of shops and it has scenes of the outside of homes as well as scenes which look out into the town from the inside of a home. The drawings all appear to be hand-drawn, which is my favorite style.I also purchased this coloring book in newer, larger version which is 7 x 10 (which you can find here: Adult Coloring Book: Nice Little Town (Volume 1) ) . I much prefer the larger format (and even wish it had been done in a standard 8.5 x 11 size book.) This book, because it is smaller, has intricate and difficult areas to color that don't exist to the same extent in the larger format book.I bought this smaller version of the book first but would not have done so if the larger one had been available at that time. As it is, I'll use this one for coloring on the go and/or for testing color combinations that I will use in the larger book. This is what I discovered while coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper:32 line drawing designs of a cute and scenic little town (including presentation page). Also included are a couple of sample pages from the artist's other books.Printed one side of the pagePaper is typical of CreateSpace: white, thin, slightly rough and non-perforated.The designs do not merge into the binding area.Glue BindingAlcohol-based markers bleed through the page quickly.Water-based markers bleed through in spots.Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on back of the page. India ink can bleed through if you apply heavily or multiple coats.Coloring Pencils work well with this paper. I found that I could layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and I could blend easily using a blending stick. I tested both oil and wax based pencils. I also found that hard lead pencils leave dents through the paper.I like to use a blotter when working in the book. I use a page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper under my working page. It keeps seeping ink and marring dents from ruining the pages below.
The pictures in this book is so adorable but there is one problem for me I will not be able to color them because I cannot see the pictures because this is a very tiny book and all the tiny detail that they have there's no way that I could see to color them. So I will save this as a gift for someone that is a lot younger than I am so that they can enjoy coloring I just wish that there was a larger book so that I could see all the detail💔😢😢â¤
The illustrations in this book are beautiful. I got the small size because I didn't want to fill in large areas with my markers. So I liked the little details. What's a shame is the binding and the quality of paper. As others have mentioned, markers bleed through, which didn't bother me so much. I put a piece of paper between the pages to solve that problem. But it wrinkled, and that was ugly. What a shame to waste such great artwork on crummy paper. Also, they way it's bound, you can't open it enough to be able to color the whole page as you get deeper inside the book. I took an exacto blade and removed the pages I wanted to color. That also took care of the bleed-through problem
This is a great book, lots of beautiful pictures of store fronts and town vignettes. While the book is smaller than your average coloring book, it's not as tiny as other reviews make it out to be. It's just about the exact same size as my iPad mini, approximately 8 1/2x5 1/2. Paper quality could be better, but still a great book, and I look forward to vol 2.
I ignored all the negative comments on this because I saw the pictures and really loved them. I am SO glad I did. They are small but not TOO small. I have prismacolor pencils and they work wonderfully. I am able to color every detail. I don't know if I would use markers but colored pencils are good. I bought volume 1 & 2 and am so happy I did! I actually kind of like having a book that is gorgeous but a little different that doesn't take up all my precious pencils to make pretty lol.
This book is senselessly tiny. It is impossible to color it with crayons. It is impossible to color it with color pencils. You need fine tip pens and magnifying glass to color this book. I didn't realize it was so small. It should say clearly at the top of the listing "POCKET BOOK" because it is a misrepresentation to call this simply a "coloring book" for 2 reasons: 1.) It is not the size of a coloring book, it is the size of a small planner or pocketbook. 2.) It is impossible to actually color with typical coloring instruments, such as crayons or color pencils. I think this listing is misleading. The reference to a "larger book" seems to mean tahat the other book is "larger" as in for those who are vision impaired, or want a large coloring book, such as 11x17. I expected the pages to this book to be at least the size of a standard sheet of paper, 8.5 x 11. It is half that.
This is such a cute coloring book! It is smaller in size, but the pictures are so quaint, and so much fun. I cannot wait to color a few of these!
I ordered this book thinking it would be a nice addition to my collection. I'm really not liking it. I wasn't paying attention when I bought and it's "pocket sized"! The pages are nice enough but I really need a larger page to color. Pay attention the larger book it out there you just have to hunt for it.
