This book should be studied by students and practitioners of Chinese internal martial arts, Chinese medicine, and all others using Meridians in their practices... This is one of the few books that gives a Qigong practice which allows you to feel or sense your own Meridians and Acupoints. It also teaches you how to inject Qi into Acupoints. Author: Marty Eisen, PhD, Yang Sheng MagazineThis new work is a treasure trove of information about Chinese medicine and Nei Gong... I found this a fascinating book and would highly recommend it to any qigong practitioner or Chinese medicine practitioner/student. Author: qigong.co.ukDamo's explanations and insights are indispensable. Whether you are just beginning your journey of personal development with an interest inphilosophical and spiritual thought, or even if you are a fully qualified practitioner of Chinese medicine, Heavenly Streams will certainly enrichyour practice. Author: from the foreword by Rob Aspell, Practitioner of Chinese Medicine and the Daoist ArtsLike all the ancient Daoist traditions, the art of classical Chinese medicine is one rooted in experiential learning. In Heavenly Streams, Damo Mitchell shares an inner method to access our meridians and points. It is a valuable guidebook for those interested in practicing with the subtle energies of their own bodies. Author: Master Zhongxian Wu, a lifelong Daoist practitioner, is the author of numerous books on Daoist traditions, including Vital Breath of the Dao and Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches - TianGan DiZhiHeavenly Streams not only provides a truly comprehensive introduction to Nei Gong and Chinese medicine from the point of view of Daoism but offers the reader an effective way to understand this information within themselves. Author: Nick Lowe, practitioner of Chinese Medicine and Daoist Qigong InstructorDelivered with an informal familiarity that has already sparked so many imaginations at Damo's course lectures across Europe and the United States, Heavenly Streams peels away Daoism's persistently obscure mystical dogma to put today's practitioners in touch with internal arts and the energetic realm. I have been involved in internal martial arts and spirituality for 50 years. I have noted over time how more and more information, previously hard to obtain, has been made available. This book continues the trend. The specific strength of this book is a detailed, precise and accurate explanation of the process of focusing awareness on the acupuncture points and meridians of the body as a Qigong practice. This is rarely explained in enough detail to enable one to practice it without personal instruction or prior knowledge. This book does the trick.Mitchell also presents information easily accessible elsewhere: the locations and functions of the various points and meridians. He does so (as far as I can judge) accurately and succinctly. It appears to me that Mitchell is a well-qualified teacher who wants to communicate accurate and helpful information, and is able to do so with welcome clarity.
It's almost written as though you're talking to him, as opposed to reading a text book. He speaks from experience and it shows. No mindlessly repeating what others have said. I have read alot of books about chi and if I were going to pick two to recommend it would be this and Daoist Nei Gong, his previous book.
While I do not personally agree with everything the author says based on my own experience, what makes this books a rare gem, is that it is based on his quality experience, and will move you in the right direction both in approach and wisdom. Thanks to the author, and I highly recommend it for practitioners who can apply themselves in this way.
This book is a must read whether you are just an acupuncture student looking for some greater understanding or a Nei Gong practitioner seeking a deeper understanding of your practice. So far, this book offers a great deal of deep insights. It is simply a book worth adding to your library.
Mitchell is the real deal. His writing is Intelligent, practical, useful and full of insight. If you are willing to put in the training time and sincere effort, you will reap the benefit of Mitchell's information. Mitchell's methods have undeniably improved both my life and practice.
This book, along with the authors first, has helped me lay the foundation for my internal arts practice. It is invaluable and is a must read for anyone interested in and practicing the Daoist internal arts. I can't recommend it highly enough, this book combined with Nei Gong: the internal art of change, has fundamentally influenced my internal arts practice, opening up incredible new worlds for me.
This can help you to develop your awareness of, and then control over your Qi in the individual meridians. I know it helped me a great deal.
Now this is what I was missing. This is beyond mambo yambo...The contents of this book are surprisingly easy to understand If you have read much of Taoist Alchemy you'll know what I am talking about. This volume has graphics to aid you on the understanding of Qi, Hemispheres and lots more. Great reading material.
