For starters, if you have the book for the movie soundtrack, the binding is so much better and is worth having in addition to the movie music book. The arrangements mostly contain the melody in the right hand; for those parts that don't, it is fairly simply to add it yourself. The arrangements are not too difficult themselves and are in the style typical to the writers; lots of running eighth notes in the left hand, lush chords in the right that are meant to sprain your fingers. The arrangement for 'Once Upon a December' is missing the interlude and the final key change. The arrangement for 'Journey to the Past' differs from the movie by having more movement in the right hand. The additional songs written for the show are a nice addition and justify owning both this and the book for the movie (for those who wonder if having both is too much).
A lot of new songs, which were not in the cartoon. But the old favorites were there. The arrangements are beautiful - but they are quite advanced and not for light sight-reading. Enjoy!
My 15 year old daughter likes it a lot! We did find one musical typo in the song, "In My Dreams", page 16, measure 35, the first G in the bass clef should have a natural sign in front of it, not the implied G# as the key signature indicates.
Love, love, love it!!! Really sad it doesn't come with more songs such as the Neva Flows and the Quarter at the Ballet. But I still love it!
It was everything I hoped for. The arrangements are not too dumbed down like other easy piano books. It retains all of rhe essence. One thing though, there are a couple typos, however. For example, in "In my dreams", various of the chords F7 are actually supposed to be F2. In "My Petersburg" one note is a G while it is supposed to be an A. Besides that though, it's all fantastic.
Fantastic easy piano version. Only complaint is that there are some major discrepancies between broadway soundtrack and sheet music, both in lyrics and melody line.
Beautiful musical! After listening many times we finally decided to see it on Broadway!
