I was looking for the information how to suffer from high blood pressure and struggles keeping my weight under control and my colleague recommended me this book. This cookbook includes over 400 proven and delicious Dash recipes for weight loss solution and lowering blood pressure. There are breakfast recipes, main dish recipes, side dish recipes,snacks and appetizer recipes, dessert recipes, Dash Diet recipes for two. The author also offers us 21 day meal plan.Every day includes breakfast recipe,lunch recipe, dinner recipe, snack recipe and dessert recipe.All these recipes are saved with simple ingredients and with easy cooking directions.The instructions are very detailed, easy to follow, with full nutritional information. I have tried some recipes of this cookbook and all dishes were delicious and healthy. I liked this book very much and I'm glad to add these recipes to my collection. I highly recommend this cookbook for those who want to be fit and healthy.
I chose this rating because I like the book a lot and learned plenty from it. This book teaches you how to control hypertension, or high blood pressure, with your diet. It also explains how hypertension can be reversed with diet, too. The book discusses studies that examine the relationship between high blood pressure and food. The Dash diet was created from this relationship. This diet helps people with high blood pressure so that they do not need medication. It has also expanded into a way to lose weight and assists with other chronic diseases. It simply amazes me that this diet has changed millions of lives. The dash diet has been recognized as the best diet for a few years now and it was developed and trusted by many health professionals. This diet has the power to change your health and your life. This book helps you to learn and use the best recipes to better your health in the most efficient way so that you can lose weight and lower your blood pressure. This cookbook makes it easier to transition to the dash diet lifestyle and it teaches about the background and strategies that help to make sense of and stick to the diet. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a great way to lose weight and lower hypertension.
I have cooked a few of the recipes from this book, with varying success. There are many places where either an ingredient is left out of the directions or the directions make little sense. For instance in a recipe for Carrot Oatmeal, you are told to cook it at high pressure for 10 minutes, but in the amount of time to make the recipe it says 13 hours. Did she intend for you to soak the steel cut oats. There is nowhere that you are told to do that. Also none of the Instant Pot recipes tell you what method of release to use. I may try a few more recipes, but right now I am not impressed. Also she does not really explain the principle behind the DASH diet. Perhaps I should not have expected that in a cookbook.
This book is written for anyone that wants to know more about the DASH diet and how to cook meals that fall in line with it. It is written in a plain way, so it isn’t something that you won’t be able to understand.For example, it tells you about the types of foods that are best to eat, and even tells you ten ways that you may be able to help lower your blood pressure naturally.Then there are recipes, a whole lot of them. There are snacks, meals, desserts, and so much more. My favorites were the breakfast ideas. Many of the meals can be made in an instant pot or a slow cooker, which is really cool. It is important to note that some of these recipes don’t even need to be adapted all that much to the ones you are already used to.The last section of the book has a complete 3-week diet plan, which can really help you out if you don’t know where to begin. Overall, this can be a great resource for those that are trying to take control of their health.
My husband and I are collecting cookbooks to improve our health, and this one was a nice surprise. While DASH focuses on lowered salt, they seem to up the flavor count by adding spices and a variety of ingredients. As a bonus, it includes a 21-day meal plan, which is great at taking the guesswork out of ‘What’s For Dinner Tonight?’“Regular†bread (english muffins, tortillas, etc.) are interdispersed throughout, so there is no real sense of being on a diet per se. I think makes it easier to stick to any change in lifestyle if the steps are gradual, so we’ll see how it goes. The variety is quite large, and there are hundreds of recipes, all of which sound fantastic.Side note; great recipe for tzatziki and lots of instant pot recipes, if you’re a fan.
This author sure does love her acronyms. The Dash cookbook is about dealing with hypertension aka high-blood pressure. The author is Michelle Thomas and she has made a couple of cookbooks that cater to health. I like her books because she always discusses the ailment in detail (this case, hypertension) and it is very easy to understand. She also always has a very detailed structure and lists intricate plans on what to eat. For 14 days, she lays out a series of options that one can eat for each one. She even breaks them down by meal times like breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is a vast improvement over her other books because the 14 day plan was not as detailed nor had as many options as before. So, if you ever had that feeling of I don’t know what to eat then here is a convenient and healthy deal.
